Terms of service
Last updated August 9, 2026
These are the rules for using agmux: the website, the free macOS desktop app, phone remote, and Teams. By downloading the app, using the site, pairing remote, or joining Teams, you agree to them. If a section is unclear, ask — we'd rather explain than hide behind filler.
What agmux is
agmux is a macOS application and related online services for running and managing AI coding agents (including Claude, Codex, Kimi, OpenCode, Grok, Cursor, and on-device MLX). The desktop app is free to download from agmux.dev. Optional features include phone remote control and Teams analytics.
agmux is independent software. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or part of Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Cursor, Apple, or the other model/tool vendors whose products you may connect. Their names and logos belong to them.
Eligibility
You need to be at least 13 to use agmux. If you use Teams or remote for work, you also need authority to bind your organization to these terms for that use (or a parent/guardian's permission if you're under the age of majority where you live).
Your accounts and access
Local desktop use does not require an agmux account. Teams sign-in uses GitHub or Google; you're responsible for that identity and for who you invite to a team. Remote uses device pairing codes and tokens instead of a password account — only pair phones you control, and revoke devices you don't recognize.
Keep credentials and pair codes private. Activity under your Mac, your OAuth login, or your paired phone is your responsibility unless it clearly came from a security failure on our side that you reported promptly.
Acceptable use
Don't use agmux to:
- Break the law, or help someone else commit crimes (fraud, unauthorized access to systems, malware distribution, and so on)
- Probe, scan, or attack our infrastructure, other users' machines, or third-party services beyond normal security research done in good faith
- Abuse remote control (pairing to machines you don't own or administer, scraping other people's sessions, sharing pair codes publicly)
- Overwhelm Teams, the remote relay, or the website with automated traffic that degrades service for others
- Circumvent rate limits, auth, or access controls, or impersonate agmux or another person
- Upload or transmit malware, or use the product in a way that knowingly violates a third-party provider's terms for the APIs and models you call
If you find a security issue in agmux, report it privately. Don't exploit it against other users.
AI agents and third-party services
agmux runs and orchestrates tools that call external AI providers and local models. Those providers are separate products. You need whatever accounts, API keys, subscriptions, and acceptances they require. Their usage limits, content policies, billing, and outages are between you and them.
Agents can run shell commands, edit files, and take other actions on your machine (and, if you enable remote, from a paired phone). You are responsible for what the agents do under your configuration — including approvals you grant, bypass settings you turn on, and code or commands you let run. Review tool requests when the product asks, especially on untrusted prompts.
Phone remote
Remote lets a paired phone view and control sessions on your Mac through our relay. You must only enable remote on computers you own or are allowed to administer, and only pair devices that should have that access. Remote can keep a Mac available while the lid is closed when you configure it that way; power, heat, and security tradeoffs of leaving a machine reachable are yours to manage.
We may rate-limit, revoke, or disable remote for abuse, security risk, or operational necessity.
Teams
Teams is optional. By joining a team you agree that the metrics described in the product disclosure and our privacy policy may be uploaded and shown to people with access on that team (owners, managers, and yourself as scoped). Team owners are responsible for lawful use of the dashboard for their workforce, including workplace notice where required.
Don't use Teams to collect data the product is designed not to collect (prompts, source code contents, absolute paths, and so on) by circumventing the app. Don't invite people under false pretenses about what is shared.
Software license and intellectual property
Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download and run the agmux desktop app on macOS devices you control, and to use the website and optional services as provided. We (and our licensors) keep all rights in the agmux name, logo, app, site, and service software. You don't get rights to reverse engineer the services for competitive cloning, strip branding for redistribution as your own product, or resell access to our hosted relay/Teams as a standalone service — except to the extent open-source components carry their own licenses that say otherwise.
You keep ownership of your code, prompts, and project files. We don't claim those. Feedback you send about agmux may be used to improve the product without obligation to you.
Beta, changes, and availability
Features move quickly. We can change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the app or online services, including free tiers and experimental features, with or without notice when that's reasonably needed to operate the product. The software is provided as-is. Expect bugs, downtime, and the occasional lost in-progress state on beta surfaces. The beta program is invitation-only after you apply; approved testers may receive unfinished builds. Don't use agmux as the only copy of something you can't afford to lose — keep your own backups and version control.
No warranty
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AGMUX AND THE RELATED SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY — INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We don't warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that it will meet your requirements.
Some places don't allow certain warranty disclaimers. In those places, the disclaimer applies to the fullest extent allowed.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR CONTRIBUTORS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF AGMUX — WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE WERE ADVISED THAT THOSE DAMAGES WERE POSSIBLE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES IS CAPPED AT THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100). Because the desktop app is free, that often means the $100 cap applies unless you paid us for a separate offering.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, certain liabilities for fraud or personal injury in some jurisdictions).
Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising from your misuse of the services, your violation of these terms, or your violation of someone else's rights — including claims tied to agent actions you authorized on your machines or content you process through third-party AI providers.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using agmux at any time: uninstall the app, revoke remote devices, leave Teams, and stop visiting the site. We can suspend or end access to online features (remote, Teams, site) if you violate these terms, if we have to for security or legal reasons, or if we shut a service down. Sections that by nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity) survive termination.
Privacy
How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy. Using the services also means you understand that policy.
Export and sanctions
You may not use the services if you are prohibited from receiving software under U.S. or other applicable export control or sanctions laws, or if you are in a jurisdiction where that use is illegal.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, U.S.A., without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in California will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any venue for abuse of the services or IP infringement. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms by posting a new version with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the website, downloads, remote, or Teams after the update means you accept the revised terms. If you don't agree, stop using the services and uninstall.
